Home Remedies for Dandruff
Home Remedies for Dandruff . Dandruff is caused when a fungus called Malassezia grows on your scalp. This results in the shedding of your scalp skin. There are two types of dandruff- one occurs due to dryness of the scalp, while other occurs due to the excessive production of oil on the scalp.
Some of the causes of dandruff are:
1. Irregular brushing of hairs
2. Improper diet
4. Too many hair-styling products
5. Improper shampooing
Here are some tips that you can try at home to get rid of dandruff.
1. Aloe Vera gel
Aloe Vera gel is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. Apply a good amount of fresh aloe vera gel on your scalp and then wash it off with a mild shampoo after some time. It removes the dead skin cells from the scalp.
After washing up your hairs massage your scalp with yogurt and keep it for 15 minutes. Rinse it with a herbal shampoo. It cures slowly so you may continue the practice twice or thrice a week for a month to get rid of dandruff completely.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar helps in maintain the pH balance of the scalp.
4. Utilize Listerine
Listerine fights fungus. Take a cup of a mixture of Listerine and water in 1:1 ratio and apply to clean hair making sure you pour it as close to your scalp as possible. Massage it and keep it for five minutes, then rinse off thoroughly.
5. Olive oil
Olive oil contains antioxidants that keep your scalp in great condition. Massage it gently, and then cover your hair with a warm towel. Leave it on your hair for the night and then wash it off with a gentle shampoo the very next morning.
if you want to avoid the medicated shampoos, use aspirin. It contains salicylate, which is an active ingredient in most dandruff shampoos that has salicylic acid as its chief component. Take 2 tablets of aspirin, crush then and mix the powder with your shampoo.
7. Fenugreek Seeds
Fenugreek seeds have a composition of protein and amino acids encouraging healthy hairs, hair growth and warding off the dandruff.
8. Neem leaves
Neem leaves have antifungal properties. It helps with itching and stops the growth of dandruff causing fungus.
The acidity of pure freshly squeezed lemon juice contains acids that can help break down the fungus that is often the cause of dandruff.
10. Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil has been used from time immemorial for its medicinal properties. It has fungicidal qualities that help combat dandruff effectively. Take a teaspoon of this oil in a cup of warm water. Shake it well in a bottle. Spray the mixture on your hairs after washing them and massage it gently on the scalp.
Dandruff can be really embarrassing and pulls down your confidence. Apply these remedies on your scalp and watch the good results. It may take time but once it is gone, it is gone forever, leaving a confident smile on your face.
